May 31, 20250

The Broncos struggled to keep pace with St. Francis on Saturday, falling 7–1 at St. Francis High School in the Regional Finals.

St. Francis struck first in the opening inning, using a sacrifice fly from Gainer to bring home two runs and take an early lead. The Spartans continued to apply pressure in the second inning, when Bagaconza doubled down the right-field line to drive in three more runs and extend the advantage to 5–0.

St. Francis added another run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a solo home run to right field by Bagaconza, further widening the gap.

Galla earned the win for the Spartans, allowing one run on six hits over six and two-thirds innings while striking out five and walking six. Johnny Louise took the loss for Montini, working 3.2 innings and surrendering five runs (four earned) on five hits, with one strikeout and one walk.

Offensively for Montini, Max Bell drove in the lone run, finishing 1-for-3 from the three spot in the lineup. Drew Church led the Broncos with two hits in four at-bats, while Jackson Simek showed patience at the plate with two walks. As a team, Montini drew six walks on the day.

St. Francis totaled nine hits in the contest, led by Bagaconza’s 3-for-4 performance and four RBIs. McGrath and Galla also recorded multiple hits for the Spartans. Defensively, St. Francis turned two double plays and played error-free baseball, with Armbrust leading the way by handling nine chances in the field.

The Broncos will now turn their focus towards the 2026 season, as their 2025 postseason run has come to an end.
