Max Bell turned in a strong offensive performance, going 3-for-3, but the Broncos fell to Fenwick 11–5 on Saturday at Montini, as the Friars completed the sweep in CCL White action.
Montini struck first in the opening inning when Bell doubled to drive in a run. Fenwick responded in the top of the fourth, taking the lead by stringing together timely at-bats, including an RBI single by Henderson, a run-scoring fielder’s choice by Janecke, a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded, and a run-scoring groundout by Munoz.
The Friars broke the game open in the top of the seventh, scoring six runs on four hits. The inning included a hit-by-pitch that forced in a run, a bases-clearing single by Gonzalez, and a two-run home run to right field by Buchman.
Purta earned the win for Fenwick, allowing one run on three hits over five innings while striking out 12 and walking two. Blake Heyer got the start for Montini and was sharp early, tossing three scoreless innings without allowing a hit while striking out four. Robert Sansone took the loss in relief after surrendering four runs over one inning.
Offensively, Montini received run-producing contributions from Nick Sheeran, Bell, Drew Church, Julio Ayala, and Quin Paprockas, who each drove in a run. Sean Hubeny added two hits in two at-bats, while Bell showcased his speed by stealing four bases. The Broncos were aggressive on the base paths throughout the game, finishing with six stolen bases.
Fenwick totaled 10 hits on the day, led by Lazewski, Buchman, and Munoz, who each collected two hits. Gonzalez, Buchman, and Munoz each drove in two runs.
Montini will try to bounce back on Monday as they travel to face Leo.
